At Brown County Veteran Services, we understand the importance of promoting the well-being and enjoyment of our veterans and their families. Ohio offers a range of recreational benefits designed specifically for veterans, aiming to enhance their quality of life and provide opportunities for relaxation, leisure, and outdoor activities. From free watercraft registration to discounted camping opportunities, Ohio is committed to ensuring that our veterans have access to recreational resources that allow them to reconnect with nature, create lasting memories, and enjoy the freedom they have fought so bravely to protect. We are here to guide you in understanding and accessing these recreational benefits, ensuring that you can fully embrace the opportunities available to you as a valued veteran of our great state.
100% disabled veterans, Medal of Honor recipients, and former POWs receive free boat registration in Ohio.
Ohio offers a 10% discount for active military and veterans at Ohio State Park campgrounds for one campsite or rental unit per visit. Former POWs and 100% Permanently and Totally disabled veterans who are also Ohio residents can camp for free.
If you are an Ohio active duty service member with military firearms training certification, you may not need to obtain a concealed carry license to carry under certain circumstances. Note that these Ohio veteran benefits do not apply to full-time Ohio National Guard members.
Make sure to carry proof of service as well as your firearms training certification with you if you are carrying.
